The Government has set aside 5 million euros from the overall 75 million euro package announced to address the impact of the floods. While 20 million euros will go to municipalities for infrastructure repairs, the remaining 5 million will focus on direct support for the economic sector, including businesses, shops, and services.
The primary goal of this aid is to help businesses cover unforeseen expenses and urgent investments needed for damage repair, goods replacement, and the relaunch of commercial and service activities. Eligible beneficiaries include self-employed professionals and entrepreneurs registered with the RETA (Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers) and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) affected by the torrential rains and floods.
The subsidy amounts will be determined based on the accredited cost of damages: up to 5,000 euros for expenses between 2,001 and 10,000 euros; 10,000 euros for expenses between 10,001 and 25,000 euros; 15,000 euros for expenses between 25,001 and 50,000 euros; and 20,000 euros for entities with expenses exceeding 50,000 euros.
The application process for these grants is yet to be established. The Generalitat will soon provide information on how to apply. In the meantime, individuals can call 012 for further details.
Additionally, the Institut Català de Finances (ICF) has launched a line of loans with preferential conditions for self-employed individuals and businesses affected by declared emergency situations in Catalonia, aiming to provide liquidity to cover damage-related expenses and facilitate business resumption.
