The average price of diesel in Girona has risen by 19.7% in one year, from 1.461 to 1.749 euros per litre. Unleaded 95 gasoline has increased by 10.9%, standing at 1.677 euros per litre, according to data from the Ministry for Ecological Transition.
Filling a 50-litre diesel tank now costs an average of 87.45 euros, 14.40 euros more than last summer. For unleaded 95 gasoline, the difference is 8.25 euros, with a current cost of 83.85 euros.
This increase coincides with a period of maximum mobility for holidays. Furthermore, from August 1st, the temporary reduction in the hydrocarbon tax will be five cents lower than in July (decreasing from 15 to 10 cents per litre).
Sergio Soto, an energy expert at Roams, warns against expecting significant price drops and highlights taxation as a key factor. The reduction in the state subsidy and the return of the general VAT rate of 21% (after a period at 10%) are putting pressure on final prices.
Soto recommends planning refueling stops and comparing prices before the vehicle reaches reserve, as the difference between service stations can be considerable.
