The Girona-based company Embotits Sarquella has opened the doors of its expanded plant in Cornellà del Terri, which now features an additional 2,500 square meters. This expansion, following the inauguration of the original plant in 2022, primarily aims to increase production volume, improve product quality, and minimize environmental impact.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent public figures including the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food of the Generalitat, Òscar Ordeig; the president of the Provincial Council of Girona, Miquel Noguer; and the mayor of Cornellà del Terri, Salvador Coll.
The total investment for this expansion, which began in 2025, exceeds 3 million euros. Several measures have been implemented to reduce environmental impact, such as using plant residue for steam generation, producing electricity through solar panels, and recovering water from cooking processes.
Embotits Sarquella, with a five-generation history in the meat sector dating back to the 1920s, has evolved from a commercial activity to become a benchmark in the production of cured and cooked products.
