The rise in unemployment in August in Tarragona has been distributed across all economic sectors. The services sector has seen the largest increase, with 988 more people registered with the SOC. Following this are individuals who had no prior employment. Industry (+84), construction (+77), and agriculture (+10) have also seen their unemployment figures grow.
At the Catalan level, employment has decreased by 59,500 people in August, falling below 4 million workers. However, Social Security affiliation in Catalonia has reached a historic record for an August month, with 3,965,220 affiliated individuals, a 3% increase from the previous year. This growth is partly attributed to the regularization of immigrant individuals.
