The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the Tarragona demarcation rose to 3.4% during March, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) this Wednesday.

This figure represents an increase of 1.4 points compared to February, when the index stood at 2%. The monthly variation, comparing prices between February and March, was 1.1%.
The price surge is mainly attributed to the increase in fuel costs, electricity, gas, and other combustibles, which saw a 3.4% rise. The transport sector also contributed significantly to this increase, with a 4.2% jump, while clothing and footwear registered a 7.7% increase.
This inflationary rebound is explained by the soaring inflation due to the war in Iran, compared to the same period last year.
