Forecasts from Afrucat and the Department of Agriculture indicate a harvest of nearly 423,000 tons of stone fruit, 13.5% more than the previous year and 24% above the average of the last five years. This increase is attributed to the recovery of productive potential, despite hailstorms and isolated frosts this spring, which have had limited impact.

Catalonia is strengthening the presence of nectarine varieties, especially flat nectarines (+17.4%), and flat peaches (+14.7%). In Lleida, which accounts for 95% of production with 403,970 tons, a 14% increase is expected, with notable growth in flat nectarines (+17.7%) and flat peaches (+14.8%). In Tarragona, the forecast is more stable, with a slight increase of 0.8%.

At the national level, the campaign also shows positive development, with a forecast of 1,514,367 tons (+6% compared to 2025). In Europe, 3.41 million tons are expected to be harvested, 9% more than last year, with a significant recovery in Greece.

The Director General of Agriculture and Livestock, Rosa Altisent, announced an aid line of 8 million euros to help producers install anti-hail nets on their farms, as a preventive measure against the effects of climate change.
