Inspections carried out by the Municipal Treasury Institute (IMH) have closed 150 cases, resulting in 457 settlements and a total collection of €835,200.76. These actions are part of the Tax Regularization Plan for the tourism sector, launched in the last quarter of 2024.
The plan aims to regularize the IAE in the apartment and tourist use housing (HUT) sector, verifying that companies operating HUTs with an annual turnover exceeding one million euros are registered and correctly paying this tax.
Currently, the IMH has initiated inspections on 99 entities managing 1,300 tourist dwellings. Additionally, there are 3 ongoing procedures for companies operating 105 tourist apartments.
The plan anticipates inspecting a total of 463 tourist accommodation businesses by 2028, the year the council aims to completely phase out tourist flats in Barcelona. In the meantime, fiscal measures are being applied to ensure compliance with tax legality.
