This initiative, which will remain open until Friday, April 24, includes the delivery of bare-root apple tree saplings. Each beneficiary can request between 10 and 100 units. The council will cover 60% of the final price per plant, which is 3.14 euros, leaving the remaining 40% to be paid by the applicants.
Residents registered in Valleseco, as well as owners or tenants of agricultural land in the municipality where the planting will take place, are eligible for these grants. Applications must be formalized through the City Council's Entry Registry, using the corresponding form.
“"It is an opportunity to repopulate the lands of Valleseco with our apple trees and strengthen the primary sector."
The Local Development councilor highlighted the corporation's effort to revive this initiative and encouraged residents to take advantage of the aid, especially those wishing to start or reinforce their activity in areas such as cider production or apple commercialization.
“"Valleseco is today a cider benchmark, with wineries that have managed to position our products nationally and internationally thanks to their quality and the sector's effort."
The mayor of the municipality emphasized the strategic nature of apple cultivation, noting that the campaign not only recovers agricultural land but also reinforces the collective identity linked to apples and cider, generating economic opportunities and consolidating a sustainable development model.
The City Council will allocate approximately 15,000 euros to this campaign, which will allow the acquisition and distribution of around 1,800 saplings. The subsidy will be granted on a competitive basis and will be materialized in kind through the delivery of the plants.
This action seeks to incentivize the recovery of agricultural areas and consolidate local fruit production in a municipality with a long tradition linked to apple cultivation. Currently, Valleseco has an approximate census of 26,000 apple trees, consolidating its position as a leading island and regional reference in this field.
