The agreement, notarized, allows Ilunion to acquire 4,991 square meters of industrial land. This transaction not only provides significant revenue for the council but also facilitates an inclusive industrial project.
A large industrial laundry facility, capable of processing 30 tons of laundry daily, will be constructed on these plots. The project is expected to generate between 100 and 150 jobs, with 75% of the future workforce being individuals with disabilities.
“"It will be a flagship project, serving diverse companies in the island's tourism sector by generating stable, dignified, and quality employment."
Marlene Romero, Councilor for Urban Planning, echoed this sentiment, stating the initiative will serve as a model for "ordered, sustainable growth that generates opportunities."
The initial investment for the laundry's construction is estimated at 10 million euros, with the potential to reach 14.5 million. Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2027, with a 35-month execution period, aiming for operation by the end of 2029. David López, General Director of Ilunion Lavanderías de Canarias, emphasized that the project will be "environmentally balanced."
This will be Ilunion's sixth major laundry facility in the Canary Islands. The company currently handles approximately 20 tons of laundry daily, with some operations sent to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
