The event, which took place at the Bodega El Lomo, brought together industry professionals to analyze the challenges of tourism in the Canary Islands and foster strategic alliances. The AMTC, comprising fourteen tourist municipalities, also honored the work of 20 ambassadors for their contribution to disseminating the project's objectives.
Additionally, a special recognition was given to nine organizations that have joined as strategic partners of Soy Canary Green. These include Joyas Sostenibles, Clúster de Enoturismo de Canarias, Canarian Hospitality, Canary Wine, Animal Wise, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Fundación Líneas Romero, Turitop, and Loro Parque Fundación.
During the forum, discussions focused on how collaboration among administrations, businesses, the scientific sector, and civil society is crucial for accelerating the transformation towards structurally sustainable tourism. The panel discussion "Alliances that Transform Destinations" was moderated by Borja de Mesa, vice president of the Canary Islands Wine Tourism Cluster.
“"Collaboration between administrations, companies, the scientific sector, and civil society is essential to accelerate the transformation of the Canarian tourism model and integrate sustainability as a structural pillar, not an accessory element."
Specific initiatives implemented by AMTC municipalities were presented, such as the installation of 2,700 light fixtures achieving up to 75% energy savings, the deployment of 55 charging points for electric vehicles, and the integration of sensors to manage beach capacity.
Furthermore, the new Soy Canary Green application was launched, a digital tool designed to provide tourists with easy access to resources and services offered by companies committed to sustainability in the Canary Islands.
