The Cabildo de Lanzarote, through its Administrative Modernization Department, has opened the new Digital Training Center at the Arrecife Insular Library. This initiative aims to bring technological training closer to professionals, employed individuals, and self-employed workers on the island.
The project is supported by an 80,000 euro contribution from the Canary Islands Government's Ministry of Universities, Science, Innovation, and Culture, channeled through the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation, and Information Society (ACIISI). The goal is to develop a training program focused on tools and competencies that are currently transforming the professional and business landscape.
The President of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, emphasized the importance of ensuring that companies and professionals can leverage the rapid pace of technological change. "This center is born precisely for that purpose: to bring technology closer to the reality of those who work every day in Lanzarote," he stated, noting that the tools can help improve campaigns, organize businesses, automate tasks, and find new ways to reach customers.
The Minister of Universities, Science, Innovation, and Culture of the Canary Islands Government, Migdalia Machín, highlighted the need to create learning spaces linked to new technological challenges. "We are facing a transformation that affects practically all sectors and requires new capabilities. Therefore, it is not enough to incorporate technology; people must also know how to use it and understand the possibilities it offers," she affirmed, emphasizing that the center makes training accessible for professionals and companies to familiarize themselves with tools that were once exclusive to large corporations.
The training program will commence on October 5th with four courses. The first, 'Digital Training' (October 5-14), will cover cloud tools, digital identity, cybersecurity, and basic productivity with artificial intelligence. This will be followed by 'Digital Marketing' (October 19-27), focusing on customer acquisition, SEO/SEM positioning, social media, and web analytics.
The third course, centered on Artificial Intelligence (October 28 - November 5), will explore generative AI, advanced prompting, and task automation with a practical orientation. Finally, 'Smart Products and Phygital Experiences' (November 9-13) will address technologies such as 3D scanning, WebAR, and connectivity via NFC and QR codes.
Registration and participation are free, with 20 places per session and two available time slots (4:00 PM - 6:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM). Each course will accommodate a maximum of 40 students, totaling 160 places for the entire program, to foster personalized attention and direct work with the technologies.
