The La Palma Island Council has launched a new aid program of 650,000 euros to promote the permanent hiring of unemployed individuals, aiming to consolidate the island's economic recovery.

Job stability remains a key challenge for La Palma in its economic recovery process following the 2021 volcanic eruption. Despite a progressive improvement in the labor market, temporality and the need for quality employment continue to shape the agenda. In this context, the island corporation has activated this subsidy to incentivize the creation of stable jobs.
The call, aimed at companies and self-employed individuals, will be open until September 4th. Its objective is to enhance business competitiveness and contribute to the island's economic consolidation. Subsidies can reach 5,000 euros per full-time permanent contract.
This amount can be increased to a maximum of 9,000 euros in specific cases: hiring individuals with disabilities, university or vocational training graduates in roles matching their qualifications, those registered as affected by the volcanic eruption, or workers in municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.
The initiative is part of the island's strategy to diversify its productive model. Administrations agree on the importance of transforming current growth into permanent positions that retain population and offer opportunities, especially to young people and groups facing insertion difficulties.
Applications can be submitted through the Electronic Headquarters of the Cabildo de La Palma and the La Palma Emprende platform, where all information and requirements are detailed.
