The Cabildo de La Palma, through its Department of Tourism, has boosted the arrival of British visitors with the start of operations by Jet2, which launched its Manchester route with a 100% occupancy rate.
Jet2 airline has officially commenced its operations in La Palma with an inaugural flight from Manchester, achieving a 100% occupancy rate. This new connection, which will operate year-round on Mondays and Fridays, aims to strengthen the flow of British tourists to the island.
The official presentation, held on Friday, April 10, was attended by prominent figures such as Sergio Rodríguez, president of the Cabildo de La Palma; Raquel Rebollo, insular Tourism Councilor; and Ricard Querol, general manager of Jet2. During the event, the strategic importance of this partnership for the island's connectivity and tourism development was highlighted.
Councilor Raquel Rebollo emphasized that these new routes with the United Kingdom represent a significant source of income for La Palma's commercial and tourism sectors. She highlighted that years of collaborative work with Jet2 have been crucial in making these connections a reality, considering them a strategic milestone for the local economy.
For his part, Ricard Querol, general manager of Airports and Tourist Organizations at Jet2, expressed the company's enthusiasm for La Palma's potential, emphasizing the island's beauty and the warmth of its people. Jet2, along with its tour operator Jet2holidays, is a leader in the British market to the Canary Islands, having transported over 14 million passengers to the archipelago since 2005.
In addition to the Manchester route, the company plans to add a connection with London-Stansted starting November 6. Jet2holidays will also work directly with hotel establishments in key areas of the island such as Los Cancajos, Puerto Naos, and Tazacorte, further expanding the tourism offering.
