The La Oliva Town Council has reaffirmed its commitment to the primary sector at the FEAGA 2026 fair, emphasizing the work of its producers and promoting the circular economy through a stand dedicated to local products and various support initiatives.
The municipality of La Oliva actively participated in the FEAGA 2026 fair, highlighting the essential contribution of its farmers, ranchers, and fishermen. The municipal stand showcased a wide range of products cultivated in northern Fuerteventura, including artisanal cheeses, wines, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, and sweet potatoes, featuring brands such as Bodega Tindama and Quesería Chano.
During the event, the council offered culinary demonstrations with typical dishes, such as 'garbanzada' and black suckling pig, prepared by a young local chef. These activities, similar to those held at renowned fairs like FITUR and GASTRONOMIKA 2025, aim to project Majorero gastronomy to a wider audience.

"We are immensely proud to have farmers, ranchers, and fishermen like ours. They are the ones who keep our identity, our tradition, and our customs alive, which is why it is essential to continue showcasing what they do at island fairs like FEAGA, but also at others with international projection such as FITUR and GASTRONOMIKA."
Among the notable initiatives of the Town Council is the loan of a municipal agricultural tractor, providing farmers with access to essential machinery for cultivating and maintaining their land. This measure seeks to eliminate barriers and encourage the recovery of farms.
Furthermore, the council has worked to directly connect local producers with restaurants in the municipality, creating a list that reduces intermediaries and promotes the consumption of local products. Actions such as the Livestock Fair in Los Lajares and the artisanal cheese-making workshop "Herencia Majorera" reinforce the commitment to the identity and customs of the Majorero people.

"The Primary Sector cannot be understood without the people who sustain it every day. They are the ones who shape the identity of agriculture, livestock, and fishing in our municipality. Therefore, it is vital for us to continue supporting it not only through the promotion of its products, but also through initiatives that improve and facilitate their production and their tireless work to keep the sector alive."
