The campaign, aimed at encouraging spending in affiliated establishments, will allow citizens to purchase vouchers at reduced prices. The purchase of these vouchers will begin on Tuesday, June 16, starting at 12:00 PM, exclusively through the campaign's official website. Acquired vouchers can be used until July 31, 2026, at participating shops and establishments in the selected municipalities.
The president of the La Gomera Island Council, Casimiro Curbelo, highlighted the usefulness of this tool for supporting the island's commercial and restaurant sector, while also benefiting family savings. He emphasized that the initiative ensures a direct return to the local economy, strengthening the small and medium-sized enterprises that are key to employment and activity in the municipalities.
Curbelo stressed that the campaign aligns with the Council's strategy to promote proximity consumption, especially during the summer, a crucial period for the island's economic dynamism. The initiative aims to offer residents and visitors an additional incentive to shop at La Gomera's establishments.
For her part, the island's Minister of Tourism, Commerce, and Consumption, María Isabel Méndez, explained that the campaign has been adapted to the reality of each municipality to balance its impact. She detailed that the Council's subsidy will be 50% in San Sebastián de La Gomera and Valle Gran Rey, and 60% in Alajeró, Agulo, Hermigua, and Vallehermoso.
Méndez noted that the higher funding for Alajeró responds to the need for additional support due to recent urban development works in the municipality, thereby benefiting its establishments.
The president of FAUCA, Abbas Moujir, highlighted the contribution of these initiatives to the island's business fabric, especially during the summer season, generating economic activity and encouraging local purchases.
The campaign will be active until July 31 and will include support staff at various points on the island to assist both consumers and participating businesses. Each voucher will have an exchange value of 20 euros, and users can purchase a maximum of 10 vouchers per municipality, with a total limit of 60 vouchers per identification document.
Vouchers are segmented by municipality and must be used at affiliated establishments within that same municipality. In San Sebastián de La Gomera and Valle Gran Rey, the cost to the consumer will be 10 euros for a 20-euro voucher. In Alajeró, Agulo, Hermigua, and Vallehermoso, the cost will be 8 euros per voucher.
Purchases begin on June 16 at 12:00 PM on the official website. In-person assistance points will be available to facilitate purchases and resolve queries. All updated information on participating establishments and campaign conditions is available on the campaign website.
