The swimwear brand Guillermina Baeza, founded in Barcelona, celebrates its 40th anniversary, marked by innovation and by elevating swimwear to fashion icon status.

The Guillermina Baeza fashion brand, based in Barcelona, has commemorated its four decades of trajectory at an intimate event held at the Gala restaurant. The firm, a pioneer in presenting swimwear on the catwalks, has transformed this garment into a symbol of fashion and elegance.
The brand's history dates back to the 1960s with the swimwear workshop founded by Antonio Larruy, husband of Guillermina. It was in the 1970s that Guillermina Baeza joined to design, bringing her creative and Mediterranean vision, and laying the groundwork for swimwear to be considered part of 'prêt-à-porter'.
A key milestone was in 1993, when the brand introduced angel wings on its models, anticipating global trends and aiming to empower women. The current creative director, Belén Larruy, daughter of the founder, highlights the pride in maintaining the brand's values and the responsibility of continuing its legacy.
Belén Larruy emphasizes the importance of constant innovation, incorporating recycled materials and sustainable techniques, as well as maintaining 100% manufacturing in Spain. The brand aims for women to feel secure and comfortable in its designs, adapting to all body types.
The anniversary also served to announce a future exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Madrid in March 2027. The celebration was attended by figures such as Manuel Outumuro, photographer of iconic campaigns, and Maria Eugènia Gay, deputy mayor of Barcelona.
