The Insular Auditorium of Fuerteventura hosted the Fuerteventura Drone Summit, a congress focused on the development of unmanned aerial systems and their professional applications.

The event, promoted by the Cabildo of Fuerteventura through the Department of New Technologies and funded by the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), gathered professionals, companies, administrations, students, and interested individuals in unmanned aerial systems. The day focused on the professional applications of drones, the challenges of their regulation, and the opportunities they open for various sectors.
The use of drones in areas such as emergency operations and civil protection, technical inspection of infrastructure, environmental monitoring, and the primary sector was discussed. The program also included content related to the regulation and development of U-space airspace, considered a key challenge for the evolution of these operations.
The Minister of New Technologies, Carmen Alonso, highlighted Fuerteventura's strategic position to lead the future of drones, aiming for the congress to connect talent, knowledge, and experience to generate employment and development on the island.
Rosa Rodríguez, councilor for New Technologies of Puerto del Rosario, thanked the celebration of the congress and emphasized the joint work of administrations to consolidate Fuerteventura as a benchmark in technological innovation.
The Summit featured technical presentations, the participation of four companies, and various interventions on the professional use of drones, as well as spaces for exchanging experiences. The possibilities offered by these tools to improve emergency response, conduct inspections, obtain information for territorial management, and monitor the environment, as well as their applications in the primary sector, were explored.
Emphasis was placed on the need for coordination between administrations, operators, and companies, and on generating specialized knowledge to consolidate the sector on the island. One of the stated objectives is to advance in the creation of an insular technical network linked to unmanned aerial systems.
