The annual variation rate of the turnover in the Services Sector stood at 5.6% in May 2026, a figure lower than the 6.4% recorded for the nation as a whole. This data is part of the Services Activity Indicators released by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).
This statistical operation aims to measure the short-term evolution of the activity of service sector companies, considering both turnover and employed personnel.
The data is presented adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, based on the methodology established in 2021. This adjustment seeks to clarify and facilitate the interpretation of the information by eliminating influences such as the time of year, working days, or month length.
In comparison to April, the monthly variation rate of turnover in the Market Services Sector in the Canary Islands was 1.1%, exceeding the 0.2% recorded in Spain, after removing seasonal and calendar effects.
By sub-sectors, the annual variation rate of turnover was 2.6% in hospitality and 5.4% in trade.
The annual turnover rate for the Market Services Sector has increased compared to May 2025 in all autonomous communities. The Balearic Islands (0.1%) and the Valencian Community (1%) showed the smallest increases, while the Basque Country (11.4%) and Andalusia (7.4%) presented the largest growth.
