In 2025, Ecoembes recycled a total of 2.2 million tons of domestic and commercial packaging, with management costs exceeding 800 million euros.
The organization Ecoembes has reported the management of 2.2 million tons of domestic and commercial packaging during the year 2025. These containers, placed on the market by 28,023 clients, amounted to a total of 3,545,652 tons of plastic, metal, carton, wood, paper, and cardboard.
Thanks to the collaboration between companies, municipalities, private operators, recyclers, and citizens, 1,494,842 tons of domestic packaging were recycled, achieving a recycling rate of 74.6%. The management of commercial packaging, carried out privately by markets, supermarkets, and large retailers, resulted in the recycling of 735,527 tons, representing a rate of 47.7%.
The year 2025 marked the beginning of Ecoembes' activity in commercial packaging management. In addition to the 9,128 domestic packaging clients who also trusted the entity to comply with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for their commercial packaging, 1,950 new clients were added.
The total cost of managing this packaging annually, borne by the affiliated companies and supplemented by the sale of waste to authorized recyclers, exceeded 800 million euros.

"In 2025, we took a key step to offer companies complete packaging management. In addition to the domestic sphere, we have incorporated commercial packaging management, aiming to provide companies with the support of an expert partner offering a system capable of translating regulatory complexity into operational solutions that promote circularity."
“
"In the domestic packaging sector, 9 out of 10 companies have chosen us again for effective EPR compliance, reflecting their trust in a model that offers them guarantees and certainty in an increasingly demanding regulatory context."
These figures, reported by Ecoembes to the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, are derived from information provided by autonomous communities and authorized private managers. The Ministry will integrate this data into the overall calculation of the national rate, for which Royal Decree 1055/2022 sets a target of 65% in 2025. The reported rate is partial, pending the incorporation of municipal recycling data.
