The Government of the Canary Islands has launched a new edition of its Consumer Vouchers, each worth 50 euros, aiming to revitalize the local economy and offer discounts to citizens on their purchases.

These vouchers, with half the value contributed by the consumer and the other half by the regional executive, provide a direct discount on the final price of products. A total of 97,918 vouchers have been made available, distributed equitably among all the islands of the archipelago.
The initiative was presented by Manuel Domínguez, Vice President of the Government of the Canary Islands and Minister of Economy, Industry, Commerce and Self-Employed Workers, accompanied by Santiago Sesé, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and representatives from the island chambers.
The vouchers are designed for exclusive use in participating establishments on the island where they were purchased, thereby promoting local consumption. Starting April 15, self-employed individuals, micro-enterprises, and small businesses with open establishments in the Canary Islands can join the program, provided they meet the established requirements.
Public administrations, non-profit organizations, large department stores, hypermarkets, food distribution chains, and certain national or international franchises and subsidiaries are excluded from this campaign. Users must be of legal age, identify themselves with their DNI at the time of purchase, and can acquire a maximum of four vouchers per island (equivalent to 100 euros), allowing them to make purchases up to 200 euros.
The vouchers are nominative, non-transferable, non-refundable, and only valid for in-person purchases, although they are compatible with other store discounts and promotions. Each participating business can redeem a maximum of 5,000 euros in vouchers, with the possibility of extending this limit if the program's evolution requires it. Businesses must manage redemption through a specific platform and will receive payment within a maximum of 15 days after validation.
Participating businesses include electronics, IT, telephony, DIY, toy stores, fashion and accessories, and sports shops, among others. The distribution of vouchers by island is as follows: Tenerife (35,988), La Palma (5,245), La Gomera (3,453), El Hierro (2,952), Gran Canaria (35,456), Lanzarote (8,195), and Fuerteventura (6,629).
Public sales of the vouchers will begin on April 28. The web platform for business registration and voucher purchase will be the same as in previous editions, and the campaign will last for two months. The program, funded by the Ministry of Economy, Industry, Commerce and Self-Employed Workers and managed in collaboration with the four Chambers of Commerce of the Canary Islands, has a total investment of 3 million euros, of which 2,448,000 euros are directly allocated to the vouchers, with the remainder covering management and development costs.

"These vouchers are aimed at traditional commerce, as large surfaces are excluded. The objective is to help consumers and businesses, the second economic activity of the islands."
