The Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC) has released the Consumer Confidence Index data for the second quarter of 2026. The report indicates that 15.8% of respondents expect a positive evolution of their economic situation in the next six months, while 51.1% foresee no significant changes.
By region, Lanzarote stands out as the area with the highest optimism, where 21.5% of its inhabitants are confident in economic improvement. In contrast, northern Tenerife records the lowest percentage of positive expectations, at 10.4%.
The Consumer Confidence Index measures citizens' optimism about the current and future economic situation in the Canary Islands. Data is calculated from 'same', 'better', or 'worse' assessments, generating an index ranging from 0 to 200 points, where a value above 100 indicates more favorable than unfavorable opinions.
In the second quarter of 2026, the general index stood at 64.3 points, a decrease of 6.5 points compared to the previous quarter.
