The proposal, officially published this week, seeks to guarantee the service of Lanzarote's desalination plants for a minimum period of two years. The base budget amounts to 34.51 million euros, with an additional million for taxes, representing approximately 3% of the total.
The deadline for electricity operators to submit their bids is May 18, with a payment commitment considered guaranteed. The technical document governing this tender was signed by the head of the Canal de Isabel II subsidiary in Lanzarote.
It is anticipated that the contract, expected to be signed during the second half of the year, will not include price revisions for electricity, except for variations resulting from new official regulatory provisions approved after the submission of offers.
The final drafting of the tender specifications was completed in January, coinciding with negotiations between Canal Gestión and the Island Water Consortium for the transfer of rights and obligations of the integrated water cycle to other entities. This transfer process, which involved companies such as Sacyr and Aqualia, ultimately did not proceed.
This electricity supply initiative is being carried out independently of the ongoing process for the intervention of the water service, which the Consortium plans to address next Monday in an assembly. In this meeting, the Cabildo will hold 60% of the representation, while the island's seven municipalities will collectively account for 40% of the votes.
“"will continue to provide the best possible service, acting with responsibility and institutional loyalty."
Regardless of the outcome of the agreement for the rescue of the service, Canal Gestión Lanzarote remains obligated to continue with desalination, distribution, and sanitation tasks. The company reaffirmed its commitment in a recent statement, where measures to defend the validity of the contract signed in mid-2013 were also announced.
In addition to this electricity supply tender, the entity has other active tenders for cleaning, garden maintenance, and general upkeep services, totaling nearly 700,000 euros.
