Baleària's 'Marie Curie' vessel docked at the port of Santa Cruz de La Palma.

The Marie Curie vessel, operated by Baleària, has docked at the port of Santa Cruz de La Palma, solidifying the shipping company's presence in the archipelago and enhancing maritime connections.

The natural gas-powered vessel arrived on the island to replace the Ciudad de La Laguna, which is currently undergoing repairs. After its stop in Santa Cruz de La Palma, the Marie Curie will continue its route to Cádiz, having previously visited other islands in the archipelago.
This operation is part of the recent authorization granted by the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) for Baleària to acquire Armas Trasmediterránea's assets on the Strait and Canary Islands routes. The shipping company views this approval as a strategic endorsement of its business plan, focused on offering innovative and sustainable maritime transport.

"With this authorization, the clear winner is the connectivity of the Islands, both among themselves and with the Peninsula. The territory and the economy of the Canary Islands will benefit."

Adolfo Utor · President of Baleària
Baleària has stated that the commitments made to the CNMC align with its commercial strategy, which prioritizes the customer, both passenger and cargo, in all its operations. To ensure a modern and efficient service, the company will invest 45 million euros in the technical and performance improvement of its vessels.
In addition to fleet modernization, the shipping company will enhance the training and stability of its land and onboard teams, aiming to guarantee operational reliability and punctuality across all frequencies, thereby consolidating its responsible business model.
