The labor market in the province of Cordoba has shown positive evolution, setting a new record with 45,277 people unemployed at the end of July. This figure represents the lowest level in the historical series and a 1.7% decrease from June, with 794 fewer people on unemployment lists, boosted by summer hiring.
The year-on-year comparison is particularly positive, with a reduction of 6,620 citizens from employment lists, equivalent to a 12.8% decrease. This improvement has brought the number of unemployed to a historic low since the current counting methodology was implemented.
This new positive unemployment record surpasses the previous mark set in June, when 46,071 people were jobless. The last time such a low figure was reached was in May 2005, 21 years ago, during an economic boom.
The positive trend is consolidating, as four of the ten months with the lowest unemployment in the historical series fall within the current year. In terms of hiring, 22,158 labor contracts were formalized in July, 13% less than in June, but remained stable compared to the same month in 2025.
The number of Social Security affiliates also shows a good result, with 311,000 employed people in the province by the end of July. This represents an increase of 6,452 employed individuals compared to the previous year (a 2.1% rise) and a modest increase of 0.06% compared to June.
It is important to note that not everyone leaving unemployment lists does so by finding employment; some may have retired, returned to studies, or temporarily emigrated to other provinces.
