The Active Population Survey (EPA) for the second quarter of 2026 has yielded positive data for the labor market in the province of Córdoba, albeit with significant nuances. There were 8,800 fewer unemployed compared to the previous quarter and 4,000 more employed, bringing the unemployment rate to 14.52%, the lowest figure in the last year.
However, several factors warrant caution. Among them are the decrease in the active population, the strong reliance on the service sector, and the decline in industrial employment. The province ended the quarter with 314,900 employed individuals and 53,500 unemployed, compared to 310,900 employed and 62,300 unemployed in the prior period.
The active population also saw a decrease, falling from 373,100 to 368,400 people. This circumstance contributes to explaining the reduction in unemployment and reopens the discussion on the impact of the loss of working-age population and the demographic aging affecting the province.
