The University of Almería has launched a new edition of its Employment Fair, a key event designed to connect students and graduates with the provincial job market, featuring the participation of more than fifty companies.

This well-established event serves as a crucial meeting point for UAL students, both those nearing completion of their degrees and recent graduates, to engage directly with companies and institutions. The primary goal is to enhance their integration into the professional sphere.
Organized by the Vice-Rectorate for Postgraduate Studies and Institutional Relations, in collaboration with the Cajamar group, the Provincial Council of Almería, and the UAL Social Council, the fair provides students with firsthand information on the most sought-after skills in today's job market. Over fifty companies from various sectors, alongside professional associations and colleges, actively participate, offering internship and employment opportunities.

"Ensuring quality employability for graduates of the University of Almería is a priority objective we work towards every day. An event like this allows for direct engagement, enabling us to understand firsthand the demands of the labor market and the needs of the productive sector, so we can better guide student training to respond to the real context of the professional world."

José J. Céspedes · Rector of UAL
The rector of UAL, José J. Céspedes, emphasized the significance of this event, which is part of the UALConecta 2026 program. He highlighted the university's commitment to adapting curricula to market demands by reducing theoretical content and increasing practical training, as well as promoting employment programs and both curricular and extracurricular internships.

"The University of Almería offers studies with high quality standards that qualify students to add value to companies in our province. The Employment Fair is an opportunity for them to connect, and it aligns with the work we do at the Social Council, which is to strengthen the University's relationships with Almería's productive and social fabric."

Mariola Hidalgo · President of the UAL Social Council
Mariola Hidalgo, president of the UAL Social Council, underscored the quality of the university's programs and how the fair facilitates connections with Almería's productive sector. She also mentioned dual training as a valuable tool for integrating business needs into student preparation.
The deputy for European Initiatives and Entrepreneurship, Esther Álvarez, congratulated the University of Almería on the organization, stressing that the fair is a crucial space for job seekers and businesses to meet. The Andalusian Employment Service (SAE) also participated with two stands, providing information on its services and showcasing innovative tools like virtual reality glasses for employability.

"The importance of offering job opportunities to young people and investing in their talent, as one of the main drivers of innovation and improving the province's competitiveness."

Amós García Hueso · Territorial Delegate for Employment, Business and Self-Employment and Provincial Director of the SAE
Amós García Hueso, territorial delegate for Employment, Business and Self-Employment and provincial director of the SAE, highlighted the role of young people as drivers of innovation and competitiveness. He noted the decrease in youth unemployment to 18% and mentioned that 56% of graduates from Andalusian public universities found employment one year after completing their studies, according to the Argos Observatory of the SAE. The study also identified Engineering and Architecture (76%), Health Sciences (73%), and Social and Legal Sciences (56%) as the fields with the highest employment rates.
The day's activities included workshops on employability, personal branding, job searching, resume writing, and public speaking techniques, with one session specifically focusing on English job interviews to promote the internationalization of UAL graduates.
