Ten Companies Drive Andalusia's Economic Future with Key Investments

Projects in energy, industry, and technology from multinationals like Moeve, Airbus, and Atlantic Copper are shaping the region's economic roadmap.

Andalusia is preparing for an economic transformation driven by ten leading companies making significant investments in strategic sectors such as energy and industry.

The business landscape of Andalusia is looking towards the future with substantial investments in key sectors like energy and industry, poised to be decisive for the region's economic convergence. Multinationals such as Moeve, Atlantic Copper, Persán, and Airbus are spearheading projects that promise to redefine the Andalusian productive panorama.
These advancements will be discussed at the 'IV edition of Activos, a radiography of Andalusia's economy,' an event scheduled for June 3rd in Seville. Organized by El Correo de Andalucía and Activos, in collaboration with Diario Córdoba, La Opinión de Málaga, and the Fundación Cajasol, the gathering is sponsored by Statkraft, Fonsan, Syrsa, Martín Casillas, the Seville City Council, and Auren.
Notable among these is the Moeve Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley project. Its initial phase, known as Onuba, will become Southern Europe's largest project with a capacity of 300 MW, expandable by an additional 100 MW. This megaproject will be located in Palos de la Frontera (Huelva) and San Roque (Campo de Gibraltar, Cádiz).
Atlantic Copper, based in Huelva, is advancing its CirCular project, a pioneering plant for processing waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) to recover non-ferrous metals. This initiative, crucial for Europe's energy transition and sovereignty, has been recognized by the European Commission.
Cox Infrastructure, a leader in energy and water, has solidified its presence in Seville after acquiring the productive units of Abengoa. The company, led by Enrique Riquelme, has recently achieved milestones such as the purchase of Iberdrola's business in Mexico and its bond issuance in the United States.
The historic ceramics factory La Cartuja de Sevilla has been revived thanks to investments from the Luksic sisters and industrialist Javier Targhetta. They have mobilized an initial investment of two million euros to modernize the facilities and enhance their production capacity.
Swiss private jet company Pilatus has chosen Andalusia for its expansion, establishing a plant in Alcalá de Guadaíra (Seville) with plans to relocate to Carmona. The project is expected to create up to 500 jobs in the province.
Airbus is strengthening its commitment to Seville with a new conversion center for the A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft at its San Pablo plant. This project, set to commence operations by the end of 2027, will generate approximately 200 new jobs.
Persán, a Seville-based company leading in household and personal care products, continues its international expansion and is undertaking the integration of Mibelle Group, bolstering its presence in markets such as Switzerland, the United States, and Australia.
The perfumery chain Primor, originally from Málaga, continues its growth with the opening of a flagship store in Madrid and maintains its expansion into Portugal, France, and Italy, now operating over 250 establishments.
The Santana factory in Linares (Jaén) has resumed operations thanks to a Chinese initiative. Models such as the Santana 400 PHEV and 400D will be launched, creating 170 jobs and producing 20,000 units over three years.
