The company Statkraft has received approval for the repowering of the Pasada de Tejeda wind farm in Tarifa, Cadiz, and is progressing with the permitting for La Herrería, involving a combined investment of nearly 70 million euros.

The Junta de Andalucía has given the green light for the repowering of the Pasada de Tejeda wind farm, owned by Statkraft and located in Tarifa. This project, along with the modernization of the La Herrería facility, which is still awaiting environmental authorization, represents a total investment of close to 70 million euros by the company.
Both parks, operational since 2004 and originally promoted by Enerfín (now integrated into Statkraft), will undergo a significant transformation. The investment breaks down to approximately 52 million for La Herrería and over 15 million for Pasada de Tejeda. The works, expected to last about a year, have a projected start of operations in 2029 and will create 35 jobs during their execution.
The modernization will involve replacing 34 current wind turbines with just nine advanced technology units. This optimization will maintain production levels, reaching 60.8 megawatts (MW), equivalent to the energy consumption of 38,500 homes. In the case of Pasada de Tejeda, it will transition from six to two units, increasing capacity from 9.6 MW to 11.8 MW. For La Herrería, the number of turbines will be reduced from 28 to seven, boosting capacity from 44.8 MW to 49 MW.

"These modern wind turbines are also quieter and feature advanced systems for bird protection, such as detection radars and shutdown mechanisms to prevent collisions."

The company emphasized that this renewal not only leverages the strategic location of the sites and existing electrical infrastructure but also reduces environmental impact by decreasing the number of units. Statkraft thus reaffirms its commitment to Andalusia and the energy transition, adding these projects to its nine solar photovoltaic plants in Seville and Cadiz, which collectively total 500 MW and supply 300,000 Andalusian homes.
