The province of Almería has reached 344,700 Social Security contributors as of mid-May, consolidating an upward trend and positioning itself near historic employment highs.

Social Security affiliation in the province of Almería continues its positive trend, standing at 344,700 contributors as of May 15th. The average for the first half of the month rises to 344,871 affiliates, consolidating the province near its historic employment peaks. This dynamism occurs within a national context where Spain exceeds 22.3 million daily contributors.
Compared to other Andalusian provinces, Almería leads Huelva (276,630), Jaén (238,836), and Córdoba (316,752). However, it still lags behind the community's major employment hubs such as Seville (854,054), Málaga (770,255), and Cádiz (444,052), while Granada records 377,717 contributors.
Stability in the province is reflected in the minimal difference between the average for the first half of May and the daily figure on the 15th. This pattern mirrors April, when Almería closed the month with 344,938 affiliates, an increase of 1,480 from March and a year-on-year growth of 1.87%.
Almería's labor market is characterized by the significant weight of the agricultural sector, with over 56,000 affiliates in the General Regime, and the strength of self-employment, exceeding 64,000 own-account contributors. These sectors, along with the services industry, underpin a substantial portion of the provincial employment growth.
Unemployment figures for April also indicate this positive trend, with a decrease of 1,274 people compared to the previous month, reaching 41,257 unemployed individuals – the lowest level for an April since 2008. Year-on-year, unemployment has fallen by 4,260 people.

"May has started with great dynamism, and we have already surpassed the barrier of 22.3 million in the daily series. Month after month, we more clearly confirm the profound change our labor market has undergone since the implementation of the labor reform."

The employment evolution in Almería is part of a sustained growth scenario, driven by both the agricultural season and the tourism and services activity associated with the start of the high season.
