Mijas drives multi-million euro investments in infrastructure and parking

The Mijas Town Council has approved a budget modification of over 33 million euros to improve road, sports, and service networks.

The Mijas Town Council has greenlit a significant economic injection of over 33 million euros, aimed at improving key infrastructure and creating new parking facilities in the municipality.

This substantial budget modification, approved in the April Plenary Session with the support of the governing team, will enable the execution of projects in areas such as road networks, sports facilities, equipment, cleaning, and supply. Additionally, it will boost the drafting of projects for street remodeling and pedestrianization, as well as a determined advancement in the municipal parking plan.
Among the most notable initiatives are the drafting of the project and the tender for works for a new car park in Mijas Pueblo, the installation of underground containers throughout the municipality, the tender for the remodeling of La Butibamba park, and the completion of the pending sections of the Coastal Path to Fuengirola.
Funds have also been allocated for the duplication project of Camino de Coín, between the Víctimas del Terrorismo roundabout and Camino de Campanales, and for the access bridges to the Gran Parque, which will receive 800,000 euros. The drafting of the project for changing the turf, warehouse, and changing rooms of the adjacent football field in Las Lagunas is also included.
The measure represents a crucial boost for the municipal parking plan. In addition to existing ones, such as Los Santos, which will soon be inaugurated, and the aforementioned Mijas Pueblo (with a budget of 6.5 million euros), projects for Parque Andalucía (with 250,000 euros for project and tender), Las Cañadas, La Candelaria, El Juncal, and the La Cala boulevard are added.
In La Cala, the Mijas Town Council will undertake several comprehensive street remodels, whose projects will be financed by this budget modification. 350,000 euros will also be allocated to the sealing works of the municipal landfill. The budget modification includes both new projects and multi-year ones, according to a spokesperson for the governing team.
Finally, 2.5 million euros are earmarked for the paving of public roads, and the remodeling of drinking water supply networks in El Coto (150,000 euros) and Doña Pilar (141,000 euros) are being promoted. The remodeling of the roundabout on the access road to the racecourse is also contemplated, with an investment of 150,000 euros.
