European project launches with €10 million to boost agricultural advisory services

A European consortium has launched the dynADVICE project, with a €10 million budget, to enhance agricultural advisory services and foster a more connected, capable, and responsive advisory community across Europe.
The European Union has initiated an ambitious €10 million project focused on strengthening agricultural advisory services. The initiative, named dynADVICE, aims to establish a more connected, capable, and responsive advisory community throughout the continent.
This seven-year project, funded by Horizon Europe, involves 21 beneficiaries from 16 countries. Participants include agricultural advisory services, professional networks, research organizations, and innovation specialists, such as the ceiA3 International Agro-food Excellence Campus. The project is coordinated by Teagasc, Ireland's Agriculture and Food Development Authority, with its inaugural meeting held in Kilkenny on September 22-23.
Agricultural advisors play a vital role in assisting farmers with economic, environmental, and social challenges. However, advisory systems across Europe remain fragmented, often limiting advisors' access to professional development, peer networks, and the latest research and innovations.
The objective of dynADVICE is to create a sustainable, high-value European advisory network. This will be achieved by facilitating and strengthening dynamic learning communities among advisors, connecting professionals and organizations from different countries and sectors to enhance knowledge circulation between research, policy, innovation, advisory services, and farms.
The project seeks to improve understanding of advisors' needs and barriers, enhance their skills and confidence, accelerate the flow of practical and research-based knowledge, and better integrate advisors into agricultural knowledge and innovation systems. Continuous learning and adaptation will be supported through monitoring and feedback mechanisms.
A key feature of dynADVICE is the allocation of €3.9 million for cascade funding, to be distributed through seven open calls. These calls will enable independent agricultural advisors and advisory networks beyond the original consortium to apply for funding to participate in project activities.
The first open call is anticipated in early 2027, with details on eligibility, funding, and application processes to be announced separately. The launch meeting in Kilkenny brought together representatives from the 21 beneficiary organizations to establish a common understanding of project goals and plan collaborative efforts.

Through this collaborative approach, dynADVICE aims to foster greater competence and confidence among advisors, build better-connected learning communities, and achieve closer integration between advisors, research, policy, and innovation. Ultimately, this will help farmers access timely, impartial, and practical advice on their path to more competitive, sustainable, and resilient agricultural systems.
The dynADVICE project is set to run until August 31, 2033. Its acronym stands for «DYNamise ADvisors through Valuable Interaction for Capacity Building and Engagement», with its core mission summarized as «A moving ecosystem of agricultural advisory networks».
The project has received €9,999,180.91 in funding from the EU's Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 101293590. The 21 beneficiaries include entities from Ireland, Portugal, Latvia, Italy, Greece, the UK, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain (ceiA3, INTIA, AIA), Germany, Belgium, Austria, Croatia, Estonia, France, and Sweden.
