The event, taking place at the Provincial Palace of Fairs and Congresses of Jaén, will conclude on Monday, April 20. During this edition, both the general public and professionals from the hospitality and food sectors have the opportunity to discover the wide variety and high quality of Degusta Jaén agri-food products, which this year are joined for the first time by products under the Sabor Granada brand.
“"We continue to deepen our efforts to promote an agri-food sector in the province that is synonymous with quality, effort, and proximity, and which is fundamental for maintaining the population in our municipalities."
Approximately fifty companies from Degusta Jaén and five from Sabor Granada are present at the fair, which dedicated the weekend to the general public and Monday to professionals. This business presence is complemented by an agenda of nearly fifty activities, emphasizing the importance of the agri-food sector, beyond olive oil, in the province.
The region's products have become essential in many restaurants in the province of Jaén, thanks to their commitment and quality. Degusta Jaén has solidified itself as a large family, with over three hundred companies, three thousand five hundred references, and two thousand five hundred direct jobs created in the province.
The program for this second day included olive oil tastings from the Sierra de Cazorla and Sierra de Segura designations of origin, as well as cheeses and wines from Jaén, organized by the Jaén Sommeliers Association. The Cofradía Gastronómica El Dornillo presented the “La Gran Pipirrana” initiative, offering tapas of Jaén's pipirrana at a symbolic price to benefit the Spanish Association Against Cancer. Alongside this dish, the public could also taste Segureño lamb and seafood, as well as tapas prepared by chefs from restaurants affiliated with Degusta Jaén.
For children, there was a play area, inflatables, and workshops, including the Pequechef initiative and family cooking workshops to prepare gluten-free pastries and a blind tasting game of Degusta Jaén products. Additionally, the final of the “Degusta Jaén” Gastronomy Contest was held, featuring chefs from Granada and Jaén, and the presence of a renowned television cooking instructor. The day also included performances by a comedian, a flamenco singer, and a flamenco school.
