The Jaén Provincial Council has presented the progress of the PID Jaén Smart Tourism project, an initiative funded by NextGenerationEU to modernize provincial tourism management.

The project, with an investment of 4.6 million euros, seeks to integrate technology and data analysis to strengthen the province's competitiveness. This platform allows for the centralization of information on key segments such as oleotourism and hiking in natural environments.
In the field of oleotourism, tools such as integrated dashboards and gamification solutions have been developed. The goal is to consolidate this tourism product at the same level as other established national sectors, facilitating its integration into the tourism sector's ontology.
Regarding natural spaces, a pilot experience has been carried out in the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park. This test included monitoring trails, municipal access points, and measuring the impact of prominent local events.

"We are taking very important steps in our commitment to smart tourism with the Smart Destinations Platform, a project that is allowing us to modernize and make our destination more competitive."

The initiative also aims to diversify the local economy and retain the population in rural areas. Through institutional cooperation and innovation, the province intends to improve the visitor experience and optimize decision-making based on real data.
