The fair, established as a benchmark for the hunting sector, will gather 68 exhibitors from Córdoba and its province, as well as from other national and international origins. The president of the Provincial Council, Salvador Fuentes, highlighted Intercaza's importance as a "global showcase for a very significant activity that anchors the population to the territory and economically revitalizes our towns." Fuentes noted that in the province of Córdoba, there are 18,248 hunting licenses and 1,443 hunting grounds, covering 1.13 million hectares. For fishing, there are 7,316 licenses and 597 boat licenses.
Fuentes also emphasized the conservation work carried out by hunters for nature and announced the first-time celebration of the ‘Premios podenquero’ awards, organized by Todomontería, which will be presented on September 17th at the Palacio de la Merced.
Félix Romero, delegate for Economic Development, Promotion, and Employment, stressed that the edition is focused on "family enjoyment" and highlighted the new gastronomic corner featuring tastings, show cooking, and talks related to 'Sabor a Córdoba', where game meat will be transformed into products and added value.
Francisco Javier Cano, deputy delegate in Córdoba for the Andalusian Hunting Federation, underscored the economic and social impact of hunting activities in municipalities, especially smaller ones, where "all towns in the province have at least one hunting society."
Julián Urbano, councilor for Markets and Commerce, Festivals, and Traditions of the Córdoba City Council, expressed the city's pride in hosting the fair, "the most important in Spain," alongside the Provincial Council and the Regional Government of Andalusia.
Daniel García, territorial delegate for Sustainability and Environment of the Regional Government of Andalusia, explained that the hunting sector is "fundamental for Andalusia," contributing 3.5 billion euros to the GDP and generating 45,000 jobs. He emphasized the sector's contribution to ecosystem balance, wildlife protection, and population retention in the region.
The activity program, starting on Friday, September 18th after the inauguration, will include an exhibition of hunting dogs (rehalas), tracking dog demonstrations, archery workshops, adventure and nature workshops, rope making, a fishing boat exhibition, and rosemary oil making workshops.
On Saturday, September 19th, the presentation of the ‘Cuaderno, propietarios de rehalas’ will take place, along with a talk on 'Game Meat: health and flavor' by Antonio Escribano, a show cooking with Conchi Molina from the Café Español restaurant in Villanueva del Rey, ferret hunting demonstrations, and fishing workshops for children.
Félix Romero, also president of the Provincial Institute for Economic Development (Iprodeco), highlighted that one of the objectives is to bring hunting, environmental, and active leisure activities closer to the general public. The fair will feature five activity spaces running continuously and a 240-square-meter children's area.
