The Mancomunidad de Municipios del Campo de Gibraltar and the Chamber of Commerce are advancing a proposal for a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for the region, aiming to enhance investment and employment.

The president of the Mancomunidad de Municipios del Campo de Gibraltar, Susana Pérez Custodio, met with the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Campo de Gibraltar, Carlos Fenoy, and the general secretary of the regional institution, Carlos Lafuente Molinero. The main objective of this meeting was to continue the analysis and development of the proposal to create a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the Campo de Gibraltar.
This initiative, promoted by the Chamber of Commerce, has the backing of the Economic and Social Council (CES) of Campo de Gibraltar. This unanimous support reinforces institutional and social consensus in finding new tools to improve the region's competitiveness and development.
During the meeting, the status of the work and necessary actions to advance the proposal were reviewed, based on a prior technical study prepared by the Chamber of Commerce. Both institutions agreed to maintain constant communication to drive preparatory work, define required measures, and incorporate more support for this initiative designed for the specific needs of the Campo de Gibraltar.
Pérez Custodio and Fenoy agreed that the future Special Economic Zone should focus on attracting investment, strengthening the business fabric, creating jobs, and opening new growth opportunities for the eight municipalities in the region. Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to collaboration in defining a solid and feasible proposal that leverages the economic and strategic potential of the Campo de Gibraltar.
