The agricultural and livestock sector in the province of Cádiz has received 70.6 million euros in government aid following severe storms that occurred between January and February. These funds, distributed in two initial lists, benefit a total of 5,080 farm owners affected by storms and floods.
The first installment, announced in June, amounted to 55 million euros and was allocated to 4,110 farms. This week, the second list was made public, adding approximately 15 million euros and increasing the number of beneficiaries by 970 holders, bringing the total to over 5,000 owners.
The aid, ranging between 5,000 and 25,000 euros per farm, is funded by public money and cannot exceed the damage caused by the climatic events. The Government Sub-delegation indicated that a new list with potential additional beneficiaries, including commercial companies and community property, is expected.
The agricultural organization Asaja Cádiz has publicly criticized the delays in approving the third list, which is not anticipated until October. This could postpone the receipt of these urgent aids until late this year or early next, hindering the farms' operational campaigns.
Nationally, the primary sector will receive 3,000 out of the 7,000 million approved to address the impact of adverse meteorological phenomena between November and February. This aid includes funding for credits, guarantees, infrastructure repairs, and support for fishing vessel owners in Cádiz, Málaga, and Huelva.
Additionally, the Government of Spain will disburse 112.9 million euros to 87,674 farmers in Andalusia as aid for fertilizer purchases. This measure, part of a 494.5 million euro national package, aims to mitigate the impact of rising raw material costs due to the conflict in the Middle East.
Payments for fertilizer aid are expected in the first week of September. Currently, 9,362 beneficiaries are awaiting resolution of bureaucratic procedures. Approximately 1,290 farmers have communicated their waiver of the aid, and new beneficiary lists are anticipated in the coming weeks.
