The city's mayor, José María Román, accompanied by the municipal delegates for Finance and Economic Development, Isabel Butrón and Manuela Pérez, visited the facilities of the Chiclana-based company Fricosur Frigoríficos Costasur Sl. During the visit, the three company partners were also present: Francisco Martínez Gutiérrez, Juan Manuel Vaca González, and Agustín Jiménez Peinado.
The mayor highlighted that Chiclana has companies like Fricosur, emphasizing their capacity for growth and reinvention after 36 years of activity. He noted that the company has over 4,000 square meters of facilities, employs more than 50 workers, and has 16 vehicles for provincial distribution, describing Chiclana as a model with innovation and growth potential in its industrial parks.
Francisco Martínez, one of the founding partners, announced that with his upcoming retirement, the company has new management as of July, with him and his partners taking on advisory roles until their professional retirement next year. He detailed the company's trajectory, starting in El Torno, moving to Urbisur, and establishing in Pelagatos since 2010, with a significant expansion in 2017 and the recent addition of a new 800-square-meter cold room.
Agustín Jiménez, another partner, thanked the mayor for the visit. Meanwhile, Carlos Martínez, son of Francisco Martínez and part of the new management, expressed his enthusiasm for continuing the founders' dreams and contributing to the development of Chiclana and the province.
Frigoríficos Costasur SL has received aid from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and the Junta de Andalucía, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development. This subsidy was used for the installation of new refrigeration machinery, complying with health regulations and improving energy efficiency with the installation of an air curtain.
The company, dedicated to the processing and distribution of fresh and frozen foods since 1990, has established itself as a provincial benchmark for its focus on quality and compliance with health and hygiene requirements. It currently employs 53 people.
