The XVII Expolevante-Níjar fair has opened its doors with the expectation of surpassing visitor and reach records, establishing itself as a key event for the agricultural sector in southern Europe.

The 2026 edition of Expolevante-Níjar, considered one of the most significant agricultural fairs nationwide, has commenced its activities in Campohermoso. The event features the participation of various authorities, including the mayor of Níjar, the sub-delegate of the Government, the delegate of the Junta de Andalucía, and the president of the Provincial Council.
The fair has achieved one hundred percent occupancy of its exhibition space, hosting nearly 400 stands spread across 20,000 square meters. This area includes two outdoor pavilions dedicated to machinery and commercial vehicles, and two indoor pavilions of 5,000 square meters each, showcasing essential products and services for agricultural activity.

"This is the most international Expolevante in its history, with an unprecedented European presence, positioning the municipality as the agricultural epicenter of southern Europe."

The mayor of Níjar highlighted the innovative and export-oriented nature of the municipality's companies, emphasizing that the fair reflects an agricultural model that generates wealth and employment, feeding millions of people across Europe. He also stressed that Expolevante is a meeting point for experience and innovation, addressing topics such as sustainability, water efficiency, and technology applied to the field.
The president of the Provincial Council underscored the fair's identity, created by and for farmers, and mentioned the efforts of a municipality with 6,000 hectares of fruit and vegetable crops, half of which are organically certified. This model has contributed to Almería achieving a record turnover of 3.891 billion euros, leading the national export of fruits and vegetables.

"Expolevante is, above all, a reflection of what we are in Almería: a land that has known how to transform difficulty into opportunity, that has made innovation its best ally, and that has turned its agricultural model into an example of efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness."

the delegate of the Andalusian Government
The delegate of the Andalusian Government noted that the increasing presence of European companies at the fair demonstrates the interest and relevance of Almería's agricultural model. She emphasized that the sector is strategic for Andalucía, generating employment, retaining population, and ensuring essential food security, in addition to adapting to challenges such as digitalization, environmental sustainability, and efficient water use.
The sub-delegate of the Government in Almería expressed confidence in the success of this edition, supported by the 16 previous ones, which have consolidated Expolevante as a major showcase for the agricultural model and its auxiliary industry. He highlighted the production of unique, high-quality foods in Almería, which optimize resources and contribute to the sustainability of the European agri-food system.
