The Port Authority of Almería has launched a 660kw solar photovoltaic plant at Muelle Ribera II as part of its decarbonization strategy.

This new installation, which involved an investment of 615,108 euros co-financed by European Feder funds, will reduce CO2 emissions by 247 tons per year, equivalent to the absorption capacity of 25 hectares of forest.
The plant complements other solar facilities already in operation at the Port of Almería, such as the 80kw plant at the Border Control Post and the 98kw plant at the Maritime Station. Through these measures, the port authority aims to generate a net balance of clean energy similar to its direct consumption.
The objective of the Port Authority of Almería (APA) is to achieve carbon neutrality in its direct electricity consumption. This goal will be further strengthened by a planned future photovoltaic plant at Muelle Ribera I, which will have a nominal capacity of 855 Kw and is expected to be tendered soon.
Once the Ribera I plant is completed, 100% of the electricity directly consumed by the APA at the Port of Almería will come from renewable sources, aligning with the Strategic Sustainability Plan 2024-2030.
