The province of Córdoba recorded a milestone in its labor market in June, with 46,071 unemployed, the lowest figure since comparable monthly statistics exist, surpassing the May 2005 low.

The number of unemployed in the province of Córdoba fell in June to 46,071 people, marking a new historic low. This figure not only improves on the previous month's registration but also surpasses the lowest level since comparable monthly statistics have been available, which had been maintained since May 2005.
Unemployment decreased by 671 people in June compared to May. The Public Employment Service offices registered 46,742 job seekers last month, a figure now reduced to 46,071. This monthly decrease of 1.4% consolidates a positive trend in the labor market.
The June figure is particularly significant as it falls below the previous minimum of May 2005, when 46,698 unemployed individuals were registered. In May of this year, the province had already come within 44 people of that record. Now, it has been reduced by 627 unemployed, establishing the best registered unemployment figure in the last two decades.
These unemployment levels are reminiscent of those prior to the bursting of the real estate bubble. After years of economic growth linked to construction, a financial crisis, peaks in unemployment exceeding 90,000 registered individuals, the impact of the pandemic, and subsequent recovery, the number of people registered in employment offices has returned to historic lows.
While employment growth and the positive economic performance are contributing factors, the loss of the active population in the province due to aging and the migration of workers to other territories is also considered a factor.
The services sector continues to account for the largest portion of unemployment, with 30,877 people in June, approximately two-thirds of the provincial total. This is followed by individuals with no prior employment (4,835), industry (3,980), construction (3,292), and agriculture (3,087).
Women continue to represent the largest share of registered unemployment, with 28,742 registered compared to 17,329 men, accounting for about 62% of the total.
By age group, those over 45 are the largest segment (26,212), followed by workers aged 30 to 44 (12,393). Younger age groups show lower figures: 3,824 under 25 years old and 3,642 between 25 and 29 years old.
Nationally, registered unemployment in public employment service offices decreased by 28,739 people in June (-1.2%), driven primarily by the services sector, particularly tourism and hospitality, according to data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy. The total number of unemployed stood at 2,291,982, the lowest figure since January 2008.
Andalusia leads the drop in unemployment for the third consecutive month, with 11,597 fewer unemployed in June (-2.12%), bringing the total to 536,523. This figure is the lowest for a June since 2008. Over the past year, unemployment in the region has decreased by 10.41%.
