Unemployment in the province of Cádiz falls by 2,096 people in May

Unemployment in the province of Cádiz decreased by 2,096 people in May, bringing the total number of unemployed to 102,987.

The province of Cádiz has experienced a notable reduction in unemployment in May, with 2,096 fewer people registered with the Andalusian Employment Service (SAE). The total number of unemployed now stands at 102,987. Although the monthly decrease is lower than that recorded last year (3,312 fewer people), the annual trend remains positive, with a decrease of 11,229 people over the last twelve months, a figure similar to the previous annual period.
This downward trend in Cádiz aligns with the national dynamic, with the exception of slight increases in Teruel, Vizcaya, and Guipúzcoa. Within Andalusia, Málaga is the only province that surpasses Cádiz in absolute and relative terms of unemployment decrease, with 2,208 fewer people compared to Cádiz's 2,096. The province of Cádiz, with a variation of 1.99%, is above the national average (-1.54%) and the Andalusian average (1.64%) in terms of unemployment reduction.
All productive sectors have contributed to this improvement, with the services sector leading the declines, registering 1,489 fewer people, bringing the total to 72,517. This is followed by the group of people with no previous employment, with 343 fewer registrations (13,212 in total). Construction also shows a decrease of 128 unemployed, standing at 8,720.
It is noteworthy that agriculture shows a greater drop in unemployment than industry. This is partly due to the recent update of the official list of activities by the National Statistics Institute (INE). In this context, agriculture records 115 fewer unemployed (2,932 in total), while industry falls by 21 unemployed (5,606 in total).
Regarding gender distribution, May closed with 65,034 unemployed women in the province, representing a decrease of 1,408 compared to April. The female population has been responsible for more than 67% of the total unemployment decrease. For men, the number of unemployed reduced by 688, standing at 37,953. Despite this improvement, women still account for 63% of the total unemployed in the province.
