The event, organized by Ecovalia and the Diputación de Córdoba in collaboration with the Asociación Española de Municipios del Olivo (AEMO), marked a milestone in its history by reaching its 25th anniversary. This year, the competition saw significant growth, receiving entries from 80 different oil mills.
A panel of 12 renowned specialists was responsible for analyzing the samples, which came mainly from Spanish regions such as Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, Valencia, and Madrid, as well as other countries in the Mediterranean basin. The results highlighted exceptional quality, placing the participating oils above the global average in terms of balance and sensory complexity.
“"Organic production is an agri-food system that provides superior quality that must be recognized by our consumers, as there is a lot of effort behind it from our farmers to produce the best organic oils in the world."
Among the winners, the Premio Especial Diputación de Córdoba was awarded to the monovarietal Ortice Bio. Additionally, awards were given for the best ripe fruity and best green fruity oils, along with a specific category for small farmers, reaffirming the sector's commitment to excellence and sustainability in olive oil production.
