Córdoba: Strong boost in new car sales in May with a 14.3% increase

Hybrid and electric vehicles now dominate the market, accounting for over 77% of registrations.

New car and SUV registrations in Córdoba grew by 14.31% in May, reaching 695 units, with a clear dominance of hybrid and electric vehicles.

The new vehicle market in Córdoba has experienced notable growth during May, showing a 14.31% increase in registrations compared to the same month last year. According to data provided by major industry associations such as Anfac, Faconauto, and Ganvam, 695 vehicles were registered, up from 608 in May 2025.
In the cumulative figures for the first five months of the year, the province of Córdoba has registered a total of 3,344 vehicles, representing a 23.12% increase compared to the same period in 2025, when 2,716 units were recorded.
Buyer preference is clearly shifting towards cleaner technologies. In May, hybrid and electric vehicles captured 77.41% of the market share, with 538 registrations, marking a spectacular year-on-year growth of 35.52%. Conversely, gasoline sales fell by 28.42% (131 registrations), and diesel accounted for only 26 units, a 7.14% decrease.
This trend is consolidated in the year-to-date figures, where alternative fuels now represent 74.46% of the market with 2,490 registrations, a 40.04% increase. Gasoline and diesel continue their decline, with drops of 7.25% and 20.16% respectively.
By sales channels, private buyers lead the growth with 542 registrations in May, up 29.98%. However, corporate purchases decreased by 19.90%, from 191 to 153 vehicles. The car rental channel (RAC) recorded no registrations during this period.
In the year-to-date comparison, private buyers also stand out with 2,490 registered vehicles (+28.22%), while companies have increased their acquisitions by 13.47% (851 units). The RAC channel has fallen drastically by 87.5%, with only 3 registrations.
