The Unión de Viticultores Chiclaneros Cooperative Winery began its grape collection this week, marking the start of the harvest season in Chiclana. Mayor José María Román, accompanied by the delegate for Economic Development, Manuela Pérez, and the entity's president, José Reyes, visited the facilities to gain firsthand insight into the campaign's progress.

The harvest commenced with the Moscatel variety, from which approximately 100,000 kilograms have been collected. The harvest will continue with the Palomino grape, with an expected yield between 700,000 and 800,000 kilograms. Officials emphasized that the grapes have arrived in "perfect condition".
Mayor José María Román recalled the 2025 campaign, which suffered losses of up to 50% due to high temperatures. In contrast, the current harvest will enable local wineries to "continue producing good wines and carry on the great work they have been doing".
Román also highlighted the current prestige of Chiclana's wines, stating that "today Chiclana wines have a greater reputation than when production was higher." He emphasized the "seal of quality" that distinguishes current wines and the municipal support through various wine-related activities.
José Reyes, president of the cooperative, described the year as "good," thanks to favorable winter weather. The outlook is for a "good harvest, healthy, with good alcohol content, good acidity." The westerly winds have facilitated slower maturation, resulting in a "good fruit" that will allow for the production of quality wines, maintaining tradition while innovating to enhance it.
