The historic 1905 railway station in Cádiz is set for a major transformation, becoming an ambitious leisure, culture, and gastronomy center with a 13-million-euro investment.

The project, which has already submitted its building permit application to the City Council, anticipates that adaptation work will take between eight and ten months once the license is granted. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the complex could be operational by spring-summer 2027.
The initiative, driven by a local developer, aims to revitalize this historic space, abandoning the initial concept of a gastronomic market with a supermarket. Instead, it will focus on a large 5,000-square-meter area dedicated to quality gastronomy, leisure, and culture, with a limited number of hospitality venues.

"We come to Cádiz to contribute and not to take anything away from the city."

The central element of the complex will be the Gran Café de Cádiz, which will receive a 2.5-million-euro investment. This establishment, spanning 1,200 square meters (including terraces), will become one of the largest cafes in the country, offering breakfasts, brunch, lunches, and afternoon snacks at popular prices. It will also feature a piano bar and a hall for events.
It is estimated that the new center will attract between 300,000 and 400,000 visitors annually, benefiting local commerce and restaurants. The activity plan will include events throughout the year, with a special focus on key dates such as Christmas and Carnival, as well as the growing summer tourism in the capital of Cádiz.
This operation concludes a wait of over a decade, following several failed attempts at commercial development by Adif, the building's owner. The private investment of 13 million euros represents a significant boost for the city's development in the coming years.
