The call for aid for the restructuring and conversion of vineyards in Andalucía for the year 2026 has resulted in 72% of the submitted applications being denied. This situation has been exacerbated by a budget cut, decreasing from 3 million euros in previous years to only 2.5 million in the current edition.
The provinces of Cádiz and Córdoba are the most affected, concentrating the majority of the demand and seeing between six and eight out of every ten applications excluded. Out of 116 applications received throughout the community, only 32 have been deemed eligible for funding in the provisional resolution.
In Cádiz, out of 61 applications, only 24 have been accepted, leaving 37 winegrowers without support. In Córdoba, out of 35 applications, only 6 have progressed. Other provinces such as Málaga and Sevilla have seen minimal acceptance, while Huelva, Granada, and Almería have had all their requests rejected.
“"Until 2024, there had never been a lack of budget. It adjusted to the needs of each province, and there was always enough money."
The cut-off threshold for this call was set at 40 points, a score that, due to the scarcity of funds, did not guarantee financing. Evaluation criteria prioritize organic and integrated production, as well as young people under 40 and women, in addition to considering agricultural insurance contracts and farm size.
The wine sector has repeatedly warned about the insufficient budget to meet demand, a problem that has persisted since the 2024 call, when applications exceeded 8.5 million euros with only 3 million available. This situation has led the organization Asaja-Cádiz to request an increase in funding from the Ministry of Agriculture, proposing to raise the budget to at least four million euros to address a greater number of modernization projects.
