Mining company Atalaya Mining, based in Andalusia, has implemented a new corporate data management environment based on Microsoft Azure, developed by Nunsys Group, to automate processes and improve decision-making.

Technology firm Nunsys Group has developed for Atalaya Mining an advanced data management and exploitation system using Microsoft Azure technologies. The primary objective is to centralize information from various operational systems, aiming for a more agile company prepared for future advanced analytics and artificial intelligence applications.
Atalaya Mining, a European copper producer, operates its main mining asset in Riotinto (Huelva). The company, with its registered office in Andalusia, is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is committed to technological innovation in its mining operations and environmental management.
The project has enabled Atalaya Mining to transition from manual information consolidation processes to a centralized and automated data architecture. Previously, information was managed in a fragmented manner across different business areas.

"The challenge was not having data, but integrating it consistently, efficiently, and with traceability. We needed a scalable infrastructure that would allow us to work with coherent and reliable information, both for internal operations and for audits and regulatory reports."

José María Ávila Maireles · IT Director of Atalaya Mining
The solution implemented by Nunsys Group relies on Azure Data Factory for data integration and Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics for advanced analysis. The architecture also incorporates Integration Runtime for securely connecting on-premises and cloud environments.
Thanks to this architecture, an automatic data ingestion system has been developed that consolidates corporate information into a single centralized repository, without affecting critical mining production systems. The implementation was designed to ensure automatic and non-intrusive data integration.

"The implementation process was designed to ensure automatic and non-intrusive integration of data from industrial and business systems, so that information extraction did not interfere with the plant's daily operations at any time."

Paco Gavilán · President of Nunsys Group
Key benefits include the automation of the corporate sustainability report, the reduction of manual data consolidation and validation tasks, and the improvement of data traceability and quality. This allows for more time to be dedicated to analysis and strategic decision-making.

"All of this helps us spend less time collecting data and more time analyzing it and turning it into valuable decisions for the company."

José María Ávila Maireles · IT Director of Atalaya Mining
The new platform lays the groundwork for future developments in predictive models, process optimization, and AI applications in industrial environments.
