The Asian manufacturer Great Wall Motor (GWM) has announced the start of its operations in Spain from June, establishing its own subsidiary and a strategy focused on electrified vehicles and a broad distribution network.

The company, one of China's largest private automotive groups, will begin marketing its vehicles in the Spanish market next June. This entry includes the creation of a specific subsidiary for Spain and the appointment of a manager to lead the expansion.
GWM's commercial implementation strategy will start in major cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and Seville. The goal is to reach 50 sales points by the end of 2026, supported by its own after-sales structure, technical training, and spare parts logistics.
GWM's arrival in Spain is part of its European expansion plan, considering the Spanish market strategic due to its volume, growth potential, and the increasing importance of electrification. The company, founded in 1990 in Baoding (China), already operates in over 60 countries worldwide and closed 2025 with 1.32 million vehicles sold.
GWM's offering will include a variety of SUV and pick-up models with different electrified propulsion systems. These vehicles will feature batteries developed by Svolt Energy Technology, also from China, capable of working with various chemistries and providing a complete electrical ecosystem.
Among the technological proposals are the Hi4 and Hi4-T hybrid systems, which combine electric motors with internal combustion engines (gasoline and diesel), and a Hi4-Z variant for high-performance models. These systems aim to offer intelligent all-wheel drive with dynamic torque distribution, nine driving modes, and electric ranges exceeding 100 km.
As part of its commercial offensive, the brand will offer a warranty of up to 7 years or 150,000 kilometers in Spain, seeking to build customer confidence during the initial phase. Additionally, it will establish spare parts logistics with warehouses in Spain and Europe to ensure the speed and availability of parts.
