The Port Authority of Almería (APA) has strengthened its strategy to position Almería as a key cruise destination, participating in the Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami and allocating 3.5 million euros to infrastructure improvements.

The APA joined other Andalusian ports under the ‘Suncruise Andalucía’ brand at the world's largest cruise event, the Seatrade Cruise Global, held in Miami, United States. This participation, within the Puertos del Estado stand, aims to bolster Andalucía's position as an attractive destination for international shipping companies, anticipating a 7% growth in calls for 2026.
The president of the APA, Rosario Soto, presented recent port improvements and services, which include a 3.5 million euro investment since last year. These actions are designed to boost the arrival of cruise passengers, contribute to the deseasonalization of tourism in Almería, and consolidate the province as a benchmark in cruise tourism in Spain.
Among the main novelties, the installation of a new fixed gangway and finger stands out, with an investment of 2.8 million euros, directly connecting ferries and cruises with the maritime station. Additionally, the construction of an exclusive terminal for cruise passengers is being awarded, with a budget close to 700,000 euros, which will offer tourist information services and a differentiated experience.

"With these actions, starting this year at the Port of Almería, cruise passengers will access from the ship directly to a terminal independent from other passengers, which will include, among other things, tourist information services."

During the fair, the Port of Almería and the Fundación Bahía Almeriport promoted the campaign ‘Almería, the last treasure to discover’, highlighting the cultural, heritage, gastronomic, and landscape richness of this Mediterranean destination. The campaign was showcased to leading shipping companies and global operators at an event that brings together over 650 exhibiting companies from more than 120 countries.
The figures reflect the success of the strategy: in 2025, the Port of Almería recorded 28 cruise calls, a 40% increase compared to 2024, and 18,112 passengers, up 46.1%. For 2026, 30 calls are projected, representing a 7.1% growth, consolidating an upward trend. Premium and boutique segment vessels are increasingly choosing this destination, whose 2026 cruise season began on April 6 with the call of the Seven Seas Voyager.
