These projects, including developments in Tarifa, El Puerto de Santa María, and two in the city of Seville, are the first of a residential nature to be handled by this regional government entity. The new residences total 514 homes in Tarifa, 555 in El Puerto de Santa María, and 1,764 and 1,926 in two separate developments in Seville.
The Minister of Finance, Carolina España, highlighted that the inclusion of residential projects in this unit will "accelerate their development and administrative processing," thereby contributing to expanding housing supply and meeting citizens' needs. She emphasized that the Project Accelerator Unit (UAP) reinforces its role as an instrument for Andalusia's economic and social development by simplifying bureaucracy to speed up construction.
Since its effective launch in September 2020, the UAP has managed 156 projects with an estimated investment of over 21.851 billion euros and an estimated job creation of 64,685. It has completed the administrative processing for 46 projects, representing an investment of 2.243 billion euros and 11,932 jobs.
The UAP's work involves supporting promoting entities, analyzing regulations, identifying necessary permits and involved bodies, and establishing timelines to expedite project launches. It has been involved in mining initiatives, green hydrogen projects, industrial expansions, energy projects, meat complexes, and new energy facilities, as well as hospitals like those in Málaga and Huelva.
Administrative simplification is a key objective of the UAP, which uses its transversal vision to identify bottlenecks and propose improvements. It has implemented the UAP Information Management System (SUAP) to enhance information organization and deadline control. The European Commission has recognized the UAP as a best practice example, and other administrations have shown interest in its operational model.
